Terms and Conditions of Use for individuals and institutions accessing Online Books through the SBL website:

Authorized users of the electronic book files posted by the SBL on the Online Books site are those domiciled or matriculated in any of the group of countries that have been identified as having a GDP considerably less than the average GDP of the U.S.A. and the European Union. Individuals and institutions in these countries may search, view, reproduce, display, download, print, perform, and distribute the contents of the PDF files according to the permitted uses listed below, provided that there is no profitable or commercial use of the material without the express written permission of the SBL.

Permitted uses:

a.   research activities;

b.   classroom instruction and related classroom activities;

c.   student assignments;

d.   part of a noncommercial scholarly, cultural, or educational presentation or workshop, if such use conforms to the customary and usual practice in the field;

e.   on an ad hoc basis and without commercial gain, sharing content with an individual who is not from a qualifying country for purposes of collaboration, comment, or the scholarly exchange of ideas;

f.   fair use under Section 107 of the U.S. Copyright Act, educational exceptions, or other similar provisions to the copyright laws or their intellectual property right laws in the United States or in other countries.

Users may not:

a.   use or authorize the use of SBL Online Book files for commercial purposes;

b.   provide the files to unauthorized users except as set forth above;

c.   modify, obscure, or remove any copyright notice or other attribution included in the SBL Online Book files;

d.   undertake any activity that may burden the SBL servers such as computer programs that automatically download or export Content, commonly known as web robots, spiders, crawlers, wanderers, or accelerators;

e.   make any use, display, performance, reproduction, or distribution that exceeds or violates these Terms and Conditions of Use;

f.   incorporate content into an unrestricted database or website without prior permission from the publisher and other applicable rights holders.

SBL Online Books and any trademarks, issued patents and patent applications, copyrights and copyright registrations and applications, rights in ideas, designs, works of authorship, derivative works, and all other intellectual property rights relating to the SBL Online Books are proprietary to SBL subject to the rights of third parties. No rights to Intellectual Property except for the limited rights set forth above are implied.
