Bequest
The charitable bequest is
one of the easiest and most common ways to support an organization (or organizations)
of your choice. Bequests to SBL can be for a specific amount of money, a
specific estate asset, or a percentage of the remaining balance of your estate
(residual bequest). You can include a provision in your will directing that a
gift be paid to the Society after your death or the death of one of your
survivors. Bequest options include:
- Specific amount of money given to the SBL, indicated by
written statement in your will or trust
- Specific item of property given to the SBL, indicated by
written statement in your will or trust.
- The balance remaining in your estate after taxes, expenses,
and specific bequests have been paid, indicated by written statement in your
will or trust.
Generally, your bequest can be considered a charitable
deduction when estimating the value of your taxable estate. Please
consult your financial advisor for more information. Donors may also
direct their bequest to a particular program or activity, or allow SBL to use it
at its discretion.
