Pauline Theology

Program Unit Type: Section
Accepting Papers? Yes

Call For Papers: The Pauline Theology Section invites papers exploring two themes in separate open sessions: Session 1 -- The Resurrection and/as Salvation in Paul and Session and Session 2 -- Paul, Hospitality and Boundaries as described below. Session 1:The saving work of God in Christ according to Paul is often associated primarily with Christ’s death and with belief in its saving efficacy. For this session, we invite papers that consider how, for Paul, God’s resurrecting of Christ is itself an integral part of God’s saving act and/or how Paul understands resurrection as an integral part of humanity’s past, present, or future experience of salvation. Session 2: Paul, Hospitality and Boundaries. The Pauline congregations wrestled with questions of boundaries and separating walls between communities, groups, and individuals. For this session, we invite papers that consider (1) how Paul understands the limits of hospitality and various communities’ encounters with the other and (2) how Paul’s letters might inform and complicate current debates concerning migrants.
