Disputes with credit card charges from SBL?
If you think that SBL has charged your credit card incorrectly, please contact SBL before contacting your credit card company. If you dispute a charge with your credit card company, it takes your time and SBL staff time to resolve the issue. In addition, SBL will be charged a $35 fee for the dispute. Please email pam.kennemore@sbl-site.org before calling the credit card company, and we will make sure the issue is resolved.

For the first time ever, the 2020 Annual Meetings, hosted by SBL & AAR, will be coming to you!
Due to the serious risks to public health posed by Covid-19, the in-person physical meeting scheduled to take place in Boston has been cancelled and the new 2020 VirtualAnnual Meetings will be going online November 29-December 10. We are excited about the new opportunity for SBL and its members.
A virtual meeting will create new possibilities. It will widen access for members without funding or resources to attend an in-person meeting, including international members, students, adjunct and contingent faculty, and independent scholars. It will open up possibilities for both live and recorded participation. It will allow attendees to avoid the inevitable scheduling conflicts that prevent participation in sessions of interest. A virtual meeting will also allow our publishers to provide the latest publications to all of our virtual audience through an online platform that will allow 24-hour attendee access.
The fee for the conference is listed here. If you had already registered for the meeting, your registration has been transferred to the 2020 Virtual Annual Meetings and there is nothing you need to do. If you have not yet registered and would like to do so, please go here.
As we make this shift to a virtual meeting, there will be many questions to answer and details to fill in. We have developed an FAQ with answers to some of those questions, and we will continue to update it as those details become available. Be sure to monitor your email for updates from the Annual Meetings Team. For more detailed questions, please use the contact information below.

Toward a Theology of the Septuagint: Stellenbosch Congress on the Septuagint, 2018
Johann Cook and Martin Rösel, editors
Toward a Theology of the Septuagint: Stellenbosch Congress on the Septuagint, 2018 focuses on the question of whether it is appropriate and possible to formulate a theology of the Septuagint. Nineteen English and German essays by an international group of scholars examine Old Testament, New Testament, and extrabiblical texts from a variety of methodological perspectives to demonstrate that such a theology is indeed necessary and possible.

Matthew within Judaism: Israel and the Nations in the First Gospel
Anders Runesson and Daniel M. Gurtner, editors
ln this collection of essays, leading New Testament scholars reassess the reciprocal relationship between Matthew and Second Temple Judaism. While some contributions explore the characterization of Jesus, his allies and opponents, and Jews and gentiles, others examine the portrayal of the temple and its destruction, law, and ritual. Each study sheds light on Matthew’s place within Judaism, and the volume opens up fresh directions for New Testament studies.

The latest volume in the Bible and Women series examines the relationship between women and the Bible’s reception during the early Middle Ages (500–1100 CE) in both the Greek East and the Latin West.
