Annual Meeting Registration & Housing is now open.

Registration & Housing for the SBL Annual Meeting 2019 in San Diego, CA is now open! You may access your registration page with this link. Please note that registration rates will increase on May 24, so take advantage of the Super Saver discount and register today! 

With more than 1,200 academic sessions, and workshops, along with one of the world's largest exhibits of books and digital resources for biblical studies, the SBL Annual Meeting is one of the largest events of the year in the fields of biblical scholarship, religious studies and theology. 

There is not a specific headquarters hotel this year.  SBL Sessions will be held primarily in the San Diego Convention Center, the Hilton San Diego Bayfront, the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, the Omni San Diego Hotel, and the Grand Hyatt.  The Employment Center will be held in the Grand Hyatt.  The Book Exhibits will be held at the San Diego Convention Center.

To register you will need your membership number, contact information, arrival/departure dates for hotel accommodations and a credit card.  If you are traveling from a country that requires a letter of invitation for your Visa process you will need to be registered for the SBL Annual Meeting first, and then select when prompted that you will need a letter.

JSTOR has invited SBL into a two-year pilot program that provides access for all SBL members to more than one hundred journals in JSTOR’s Religion and Theology Collection. Ithaka S+R US Faculty Survey 2018

The Ithaka S+R US Faculty Survey, which SBL participates in and supports, has tracked the changing research, teaching, and publishing practices of higher education faculty members on a triennial basis since 2000. The aim of this project is to provide actionable findings and analysis to help colleges and universities as well as relevant support services, such as academic libraries, learned societies, and scholarly publishers, plan for the future. The 2018 Survey is available here.


Registration for the 2019 International Meeting is open.

This year the meeting will be hosted by the Pontifical Biblical Institute and the Pontifical Gregorian University and sponsored by Baylor University Press, Columbia Theological Seminary, and the Nida Institute for Biblical Scholarship.
