SBL Council Please see the Council News and Update following the October 2017 meeting. 2018 Annual Campaign Launch! In October SBL launched the 2018 Annual Campaign with a goal of enhancing its body of work, the Society. However, we can't do it without you! Click here to show your support with a gift, and help create the best version of SBL today. NEH @ the Annual Meeting The National Endowment for the Humanities offers grants to scholars and others engaged in humanistic research and teaching. Twenty-six grant programs support individuals, teams, and institutions doing work for other scholars, students, or the general public. Fundable projects include research for monographs, scholarly editions, preserving or digitizing archival collections, professional development for teachers, museum exhibits and documentaries. The NEH has a long record of supporting important scholarship in religious studies, including a variety of disciplinary approaches and religious traditions. A program officer will be available at this year's annual meetings to talk one-on-one about grant programs and possible applications. 2017 Annual Business Meeting We encourage Annual Meeting registrants to attend the SBL Annual Business Meeting on Sunday, November 19th, at 7:30 – 8:30 a.m., in the Hynes Convention Center – room 105 (plaza level), with SBL President, Michael Fox, presiding. In addition to updates and an overview of 2017, as well as a look ahead, members will vote on the slate of candidates for Council, including the new Vice President/President-elect. Call for Nominations Nominating Committee will begin developing a list of candidates to serve on SBL’s standing committees and Council. That work begins at the Annual Meeting and extends through 2018 for new positions open in 2019. Please see the call for nominations and nominate yourself or a colleague.
