About SBL

The Society of Biblical Literature is the oldest and largest international scholarly membership organization in the field of biblical studies. Founded in 1880, the Society has grown to over 8,500 international members including teachers, students, religious leaders and individuals from all walks of life who share a mutual interest in the critical investigation of the Bible.
Septuagint and Cognate Studies
Septuagint and Cognate Studies (co-sponsored by the International Organization for Septuagint and Cognate Studies) is devoted to the study of the LXX, textual criticism, manuscript witnesses and other versions, as well as its literature, historical milieu, and thought. Cognate studies include the Jewish apocrypha and pseudepigrapha of the Hellenistic period as well as the subsequent development of this literature in Judaism and early Christianity.
 
The Septuagint and Cognate Studies editorial board is led by Wolfgang Kraus (Universität des Saarlandes) and includes the following members:
