The use of prefixed and suffixed verb forms in books three and four of the Psalter are analyzed by classifying the verbs in the Psalter by the system of Van Valin and LaPolla and the clauses by a modification of Heller's discourse categories. Results focus on verbs which are linguistically stative and also agree with studies emphasizing that poetry should be compared to direct discourse more so than narrative.
