Various parallels between passages in the ancient Hebrew Bible and Levantine Literwture, especially Ugaritic, have long been known. The question arises, when and how did these expressions and pericopes reach the literate members of Judean society? This paper suggests tentatively that the principle time was during the late eighth century BCE.
