The 2006 joint meeting of the AAR and SBL convened in Washington, DC on November 17 with a record 11,370 religious and biblical scholars in attendance. . .
Ninety-eight percent of attendees visited the exhibit hall, which featured 333 booths. SBL's booth also had a new look . . .
The registration area, as always, was a place for greeting old friends and making new ones. . .
Attendees navigated the conference center. . .
The President made his address. . .
SBL celebrated 125 years of publications. . .
More sessions were available than ever before, with an increase from 350 to 400 this year.
Many of the sessions were standing (read "sitting") room only! Eighty-one percent of members report attending at least four sessions. . .
The various receptions were well-attended. . .
And the SBL and AAR staff actively participated in the important work of their organizations. . .
