SBL is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Susan Haber, Ph.D. student in religious studies at McMaster University and an active member of SBL. She was a Ph.D. student in Religious Studies at McMaster University, majoring in early Judaism with a minor in Early Christianity. Her area of interest was purity in Second Temple period Judaism, especially as it pertains to the Qumran community. In addition to being the student representative to the Committee on the Status of Women in the Profession, she was also a member of SBL's Student Advisory Committee (SAG).

HABER, Susan B.Sc., O.D., B.A., M.A., (Phd. student McMaster University) On Monday, July 3, 2006 at North York General Hospital. Susan Haber, beloved wife of Stephen Haber. Loving mother of Gillian, Joshua and Jeremy. Devoted daughter of Louis and Shirley Gula, and the late Goldie Gula. At Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel, 2401 Steeles Avenue West (3 lights west of Dufferin) for service on Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. Interment Adath Israel Section of Pardes Shalom Cemetery.
