ATLA Student Luncheon The American Theological Library Association (ATLA) and the AAR Graudate Student Task Force cordially invite all SBL and AAR doctoral students attending the Annual Meeting to gather for a panel conversation about alternative careers for religion doctoral students; several past religion PhD graduates will be on hand to discuss their experiences in alternative fields. The session will be on Saturday, November 19, 2005 from 11:45 am to 1:00 pm during the Annual Meeting in Philadelphia. A light lunch will be provided.
Attendance is limited to the first 100 students who sign up. Please limit enrollment to five students per institution. Contact Kimberly Bresler, Student Director, kimberly.bresler@ptsem.edu with questions.
The purpose of the luncheon is to provide a relaxed atmosphere for advanced graduate students to discuss very real questions about their future within the field. Please see the AAR Program Highlights for more information about this session.
Therefore we ask that you:
Wait to register for this program until you've reached the final year or two of your graduate career (we have every intention to continue convening this very popular event each year). Please consider whether your conference schedule will allow you to commit your full attention to the table discussion. If you cannot arrive on time and stay through the entire session, or if you will be rushing off immediately afterward to give a paper or to sit down for a job interview, your anxiety will detract from what you and others at your table will be able to gain from the event. Please don't sign up a second time if you have already attended this event in past years (space is limited).
Deadline to sign up is Wednesday, November 16, 2:00 PM Eastern Time.
SBL members should contact Robert Puckett, rpuckett@aarweb.org, to add your name to the list.
